Project Description

Island Crest Park Synthetic Baseball Fields

In the dead of a Western Washington winter, Mercer Island, Washington retained RW Droll to design, bid, and administer construction of a synthetic turf baseball infield. Existing base was replaced, existing subdrains were videotaped to discover nonfunctioning locations and were replaced, curbs poured and synthetic turf installed in the fall/winter of 2012/2013. A donor states the outcome the best.

“As you can see by the attached picture, all of our collective hard work, dedication, and funding commitments have substantially come to fruition, and we now have a beautiful turf baseball infield at Island Crest Park. Everyone who has walked or driven by the field is amazed and inspired by the effort and result of this project. The players and coaches (and a few of us Dads) can hardly be restrained from getting on the field and playing ball. Thank you all for your efforts and support to bring this valuable project to the Island.” – Jerry D. Goldberg, Mercer Island Baseball Booster Club
